On Thursday, Kerala reported 5,378 new Covid-19 cases. In a press statement by Health Minister KK Shailaja, the state has collected 55,996 samples in the last 24 hours. Currently, Kerala has 64,486 active Covid-19 cases.
Out of 5,378 cases, 4,690 persons were infected through contact, 76 infected persons came from outside the state. However, the source of infection for 582 cases is still unknown.
Kerala also reported 5,970 recoveries, taking the recovery toll to 5,16,978. However, the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha confirmed that there were 27 casualties, taking the state’s death toll to 2,148. The test positivity rate of Kerala is 9.60%.
