Rajinikanth's Annaatthe shoot has been suspended after four crew members tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Reports say that although the Kollywood superstar has tested negative in the Covid test, he has been advised to isolate himself. It is unclear if the actor will rest in Hyderabad or will return to Chennai.

The film, which is being shot indoors in a bio bubble at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, was in the news recently as Rajinikanth was supposedly working 14 hours straight in order to complete the film as fast as possible. The unexpected Covid situation has, however, caused further delay to the project which was slated to be a Pongal release in May 2021. The shoot was already delayed earlier this year during the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Tipped to be a rural drama, the film is being directed by Siruthai Siva. The film stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, and Khushbhu in key roles. In the movie, Rajinikanth will be seen playing a doting brother to Keerthy Suresh, his sister.

Earlier this month, Rajinikanth took to Twitter to reveal that he’s finally ready to take the long-delayed political plunge. The Annaatthe team were racing against time to meet the deadline and relieve Rajinikanth at the earliest possible as he wanted to concentrate on his political activities.

Rajinikanth said he would announce the details of his party on December 31, 2020. In a statement released on Twitter, he said, “Our party with the support of people will capture the power and provide a corruption-free and transparent government that will be above caste, creed, and religion.” He also tweeted, “We will change everything. Miracle and wonder will happen.”
