Massive explosives seized at Kozhikode Railway Station; lady passenger in custody

The special squad of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has taken a lady passenger who was found in a suspicious situation with explosives into custody from Kozhikode railway station. The passenger along with explosive substances was found on the Chennai-Mangalore Superfast Express numbered 02685. Reportedly, the passenger, identified as Ramani, a native of Tamil Nadu, told the police that she was bringing gelatin sticks for the purpose of digging a well.

According to reports, nearly 117 gelatin and 350 detonators were seized from the train. The arrested passenger was travelling from Chennai to Thalassery. The explosive substances were found hidden under the seat where the lady passenger was sitting in compartment number D1.

The officials said that the passenger was arrested and being questioned. The explosives were seized at around 4 am today. The explosives were unearthed during the flash inspection of the RPF Crime Prevention and Detection Squad in the train between Tirur and Kozhikode stretch.

On Thursday, in another incident, during the inspections in train 4.2 kg of gold ornaments were seized from a Rajasthan native without proper documents.
