Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has announced sponsoring the renovation of 33 government hospitals at his hometown Anchal, Kollam.

Resul and health department principal secretary Dr Rajan N Khobragade have signed a MoU for the project in the presence of Kerala health minister KK Shailaja. The project will be executed by Resul’s Resul Pookutty Foundation.

In a tweet, he wrote, “The MOU signed #ResulPookuttyFoundation and Govt Of Kerala. An #AI driven predictive and pre-emptive health care to every commoner in my native village, my dream. I thank my stars and my dearest @SrBachchan

According to sources, 28 sub centres, four primary health centres and one community health centre will be renovated in the project.

Meanwhile Resul joins the India schedule of Footprints on Water. Shooting of the film, directed by Nathalia Syam, is underway in India, after a long schedule in the United Kingdom.

The film, written by Neetha Syam, went on the floor in the UK in December 2020 after the pandemic induced lockdown. Footprints on Water, which is a reflection of the unexpected fate of many illegal immigrants who arrive from their homeland to the UK hoping to turn their lives around, features Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, Antonio Akeel and Lena Kumar among others.
