Renowned short story writer and novelist U A Khader (85) passes away after a long battle with cancer.

U A Khader was born to Keralite Moideenkutty Hajji and Myanmar native Mamaidi in 1935 at Bilin in Myanmar. He reached Kerala during the World War II.

Khader is the author of over 70 books in various genres including novels, stories, articles, travelogues and children’s literature. ‘Thrikkottoor Peruma’ is one of the most noted work written by him.

In 1983, Khader won Kerala Sahitya Akademi award for ‘Thrikkottoor Peruma’ and in 2009, Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for ‘Thrikkottoor Novelukal’.
